Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions that we hear more often.

  • No, you do not need a referral to see a podiatrist. You can book an appointment directly with us. However, if you have a chronic medical condition or complex care needs, you may be eligible for a referral under a GP Chronic Disease Management Plan. This could allow you to access Medicare benefits for a limited number of podiatry visits. It’s best to speak with your GP if you think this applies to you.

  • Bring any medical records or results (e.g., X-rays, MRI) relevant to your condition. It’s best to wear loose clothing (preferably pants that can be pulled above your knee) and bring your most commonly worn footwear.

You may also need your medicare card or private health insurance card. Please also bring your pension card if this applies to you.

  • During your first visit, our podiatrists will undertake a thorough initial assessment and listen to your concerns and history. Here’s what you can expect:

Initial Consultation: We’ll discuss your medical history, lifestyle, and symptoms

Foot and Gait Assessment: A physical examination of your feet and gait to identify any issues.

Diagnosis and Treatment Plan: We will provide a treatment plan tailored to your long-term foot health.

  • Podiatry services may be covered under either Medicare or private health insurance, depending on your circumstances:

Medicare: With a GP Chronic Disease Management Plan, Medicare may cover part of your podiatry visit for up to 5 sessions per calendar year. A GP referral is required.

Private Health Insurance: Many plans offer podiatry rebates if you have extras cover. Coverage varies, so check with your insurer. We offer HICAPS claims on-site.

  • Yes! For NDIS patients you may be self managed or plan managed. Self managed will pay on the day and then claim back through NDIS. If you are plan managed we will need your 3rd party provider details.

For TAC an approval is needed for your treatment. Workcover require a referral and insurance claim number.
