Some common questions we encounter

Below are some questions that we frequently get asked. If you have a question that isn’t listed below, then please, feel free to email or telephone us and we’ll do our best to answer it!

Will you confirm my appointment?

Yes. We confirm all appointments the day before, you can elect to have this reminder either by text message, or over the phone.

What are your opening hours?

At Our Niddrie Clinic, we are open 9am -5pm Monday – Friday, and 9am - 1pm on Saturday. We can cater for after-hours appointments if required, just ask our friendly reception staff for a time.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, for a standard consultation no referral is necessary – simply call us and make an appointment. However, for a DVA Gold Card, WorkCover, TAC, or Medicare (under the Chronic Disease Management Plan), you will need a referral from your GP.

Is it covered by Medicare?

Medicare will cover $60.35 of the consultation fee when a valid Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan is in place (Ask your GP about preparing one for you!)

If you present with a CDM plan, and have a valid pension card or healthcare card, we will bulk bill your consultation fee.

Is it covered by Private Health Insurance (HiCaps)?

Podiatry is available as part of your Extras cover, rebates will vary according to the fund and type of cover.
To find out how much you are entitled to, contact your Private Health Insurance provider.
We have HICAPS available at our Niddrie clinic for an instant rebate on your consultation fee.

Do I need to bring my medical history?

No. But if you are suffering from foot and lower limb pain, please bring in any x-rays, shoes or old orthotics you may have.

Can you arrange a home visit?

If a patient is unable to attend one of our clinics we may be able to conduct a home visit depending on the circumstances. Please request a home visit when you call to make your appointment and note that home visit fees will apply.

How often do I need to visit a podiatrist?

There’s no standard period of time recommended between visits. How often you consult a Podiatrist will depend on the health of your feet. Our highly trained Podiatrists will advise you if you require a follow up consultation.
